Choose the right display for the space

Door and bulletin board names should be large enough to read from a few steps away, while desk labels need space for the information students use daily. Match the size and shape of each name piece to its purpose before editing the complete class set.

Keep fonts simple for younger readers and for any display viewed from a distance. Decorative lettering can be used for a headline while student names remain clear and easy to recognize.

Create an efficient editing process

Prepare a clean class list before opening the editable file. Copy names carefully, use the same capitalization style, and scan the full set for missing students, duplicates, and spelling errors before printing.

Long names may need a slightly smaller font size, but try to preserve consistent visual weight across the display. Print one long and one short name as a test before producing every page.

Plan for classroom changes

Save an editable master file and keep blank pieces with your printed extras. When a student joins the class, you can create a matching name without rebuilding the display.

Attach pieces in a removable way when possible. Editable names can later become birthday markers, classroom job cards, portfolio labels, or celebration pieces, giving the same printed set more than one use.
